From Vice President Dick Cheney: I want to take this opportunity to offer my strong endorsement of Congressman Mike Simpson’s re-election to Congress in 2010. Among my reasons for doing so is my strong belief that our nation needs his conservative, yet pragmatic approach to governing in these challenging times. Mike has been a tireless advocate for our nation veterans, an ardent champion of securing our nation’s borders, and someone who recognizes the incredible recklessness of standing by idly while Iran develops a nuclear capability. Perhaps more importantly, Mike has never waivered when called upon by me and others to help thwart those who would do us harm. Terrorists continue to target our nation and we need people like Mike in Congress who will confront this threat and keep us as safe as possible. I have always appreciated his candor, his insight, and his courage. I have also appreciated his love of the West and deep grounding in the values so important to a region both he and I call home. With so much to gain later this year for our party and our Country, I am happy to offer my endorsement to Congressman Mike Simpson.
