“If some Idahoans really think Simpson isn’t tea party enough, perhaps they should listen to Smith’s cries about Simpson being a liberal. The rest of us can say, “We like Mike.”
He’s a conservative who exhibits common sense.”

“Let’s look at Simpson’s record in Congress for the past 15 years. He came into office when Mike Crapo moved from the House to the U.S. Senate in 1998. Since that time, he has served in Congress Simpson has acquired a 100 percent rating from the National Rifle Association, National Right to Life, National Federation of Independent Businesses and has a 92 percent rating from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. This is an “A”-to-“A+” report card from the most conservative groups in America.”

Thursday, October 17, 2013 - Eastern Idaho residents should know Mike Simpson by now — and he’s no liberal. He’s the bedrock of what used to be considered a solid Republican in the Gem State.

Born in reared in Blackfoot, Simpson graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1968 and went on to graduate from Utah State University and Washington University School of Dental Medicine in St. Louis, Mo. He was elected to the Blackfoot City Council in 1980 after setting up his dental practice in the community.

His political ambitions led him to run in 1984 for the Idaho House, which he won. He served seven terms in the Idaho Legislature and eventually became Speaker of the Idaho House before running for a seat in Congress.
